College Baseball:
Chaffey is now just one IEAC win from clinching an outright championship.
And they play second place Desert on Thursday in Rancho Cucamonga.
Chaffey dropped a 21-5 beatdown on their visitors from San Bernardino Valley College.
The Panthers had a 21-11 advantage in base hits.
Jackson Price went five innings to earn the win, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits.
Price walked one and fanned seven SBVC batters.
Kole Acker provided three scoreless innings in relief.
Acker allowed one hit, issued one walk and registered three strikeouts.
Tanner Horwath singled twice, doubled and scored.
Jeremiah Acosta walked, scored and had a two-run double in a five-run second inning.
Miguel Soto and Arnold Regaldo singled and scored one run apiece.
Evan Garcia had a two-run single and scored.
Jesse Bullard was saddled with the loss.
Bullard surrendered six runs on five hits over two innings.
He walked a pair and fanned two Chaffey batters.
The Panthers scored against five of the SBVC batters they faced on Tuesday.
Jayden Sanchez went 2-for-4 with three runs, a two-run single and a two-run double.
Ryan Melton had four hits in five at-bats.
And that included a two-run triple, a two-run single, an RBI single and two runs.
Eric Valdivia went 2-for-4 with a walk, two-run double, an RBI single and three runs.
Ryder Young singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove in one.
Jaden St. Cyr walked, scored and had a two-run double.
AJ Hurtado went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, three runs and one RBI.
Derek Almeda walked, singled three times, drove in one, and scored three runs.
Jordan Daniels went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Dominick Torrez singled, scored twice and drove in one.
Joe Gilkeson singled once in the win.
Up next: The Panthers host Desert on Thursday at 2:30.
With a win on Thursday, the Panthers would officially secure an outright IEAC title.
