Baseball:
South Hills continues to steamroll its path towards a Hacienda League championship.
The Huskies scored three times in the top of the first inning at San Dimas, and Joseph Moreno did the rest in a 3-1 victory.
SHHS now holds a two-game lead over second place Colony down as they traverse the final stretch of the regular season.
Joseph Moreno went the distance, and he was charged with one unearned run on five hits.
Moreno issued a pair of walks and struck out seven SDHS batters.
Vaughn Coleman drew a pair of walks and scored.
Jayden Medina, Aaden Escarcega, Josh Calcanas, Luc Redfox and Jeremiah Holmes had one single apiece to account for the Saints offense.
Dean Brosterhouse got the loss after allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over four innings.
Manuel Tinajero provided three scoreless innings in relief.
Tinajero allowed one hit, didn’t issue a walk and he registered two strikeouts.
As mentioned, South Hills did all their offensive damage in the top of the first inning.
Gabriel Guerrero and Diego Villarreal had consecutive singles to get things started.
And Ayden Vieth followed with a three-run home run.
Vieth finished 2-for-3, including a double.
Zack Escalera and Nicolas Munoz had the Huskies two other hits on Wednesday.
