Baseball:
Northview got off to a slow start to the 2025 season, but the Vikings are right in the middle of the Valle Vista League title chase.
After Tuesday’s 6-3 victory over their visitors from Covina, NHS finds itself 2-1 in VVL games.
AJ Flores went five innings to earn the win.
Flores surrendered three runs (two earned) on eight hits.
He didn’t issue a walk and registered nine strikeouts.
Camren Lobo and Jon Hernandez provided one scoreless inning of relief apiece, and both fanned a pair of CHS batters.
In all, three Northview batters combined for no walks and 13 strikeouts.
Northview scored five times in the bottom of the first inning, and they never trailed.
Ricardo Alvarez had an RBI double.
Ethan Echeverria went 2-for-3 with one run and an RBI.
Ryan Silva and Donovan Johnson had two hits apiece.
Joseph Garcia singled and scored.
Lucas Thorpe and Damien Morimoto had one single apiece.
Jacob Alvarez scored once for the Colts.
Caesar Guzman was charged with six runs on eight hits over five innings.
Guzman walked three and fanned a pair of Vikings.
Izzaiah Seieroe provided a scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit and getting two of his three outs via strikeout.
Joey Ramos singled twice and scored.
Adrian Rodriguez walked, singled twice and scored.
Isaiah Benavidez walked, had an RBI single and an RBI ground out.
Noah Martinez singled in two runs and scored.
Jake Aguilar had an RBI single.
Jayden Chagollan walked and scored.
Michael Mendoza’ RBI single in the bottom of the first gave NHS a 1-0 lead.
He would also score once in Tuesday’s win.
