Baseball:
After being on the wrong end of a three-game Baseline League sweep last week, Chino Hills pounced on Etiwanda early, and they cruised to a 5-1 victory.
CHHS out-hit EHS, 10-5, on Monday afternoon in Chino Hills.
Brody Buoncristiani went 6 1/3 innings, and he allowed one run on five hits.
Buoncristiani walked two and fanned five Etiwanda batters.
Max Zaldivar got the final two outs to secure the win.
Ryan Severns went 2-for-4.
Severns had a one-out double in the top of the third inning, and one batter later, Josh Adams singled him home to pull the Eagles to within 4-1 of the Huskies.
Frank Gonzales and Derrick Kim had one single apiece to account for the rest of the EHS offense.
CJ Monzon go the loss after surrendering three runs on two hits and a walk over 1/3 of an inning.
CHHS got two runs (one earned) on seven hits off Noah Frias.
Frias issued one walk and registered two strikeouts.
AJ Salazar went one scoreless inning in relief, allowing one hit and issuing one base on balls.
Buoncristiani helped his own cause, going 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and an RBI double.
Jacob Jimenez drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Matt McCliman went 2-for-3, including a two-run single in the bottom of the first.
Matt Mendez doubled and scored
Tatum Borgogno singled twice in three at-bats.
Frankie Brazil’s RBI single in the fifth extended the Huskies lead to 5-1.
Jackson Aguayo singled and Branden Kim scored once for Chino Hills.
