Girls Athlete of the Week:
The San Dimas flag football program entered the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs having lost two of their final three games.
The Saints, however, continued to exude a ton of confidence in themselves and their coaching staff.
And it showed.
On Tuesday, and in the first flag football playoff game in school history, San Dimas secured a 19-13 victory at Westminster.
Four nights later, the Saints earned a spot in the D-3 quarterfinal round by defeating their visitors from Highland, 19-6, at SDHS.
Every girl in a San Dimas uniform made invaluable contributions.
And that included the stellar play of SDHS running back/linebacker, Lei’ani Jaime.
In Tuesday’s win, Jaime led SDHS with 20 yards rushing on five carries.
Jaime had an eight-yard reception and three tackles on defense.
Jaime closed out the week with a far bigger impact than in Tuesday’s victory over Westminster.
In the 13-point win on Saturday, Jaime led the San Dimas ground game with 53 yards on nine carries.
Jaime also caught three passes for 16 yards and one TD.
And on defense, Jaime had three tackles, and she picked two passes.
Her second interception became a 10-yard pick-six to put Highland to bed.
Up next: The Saints will face off with Troy on Tuesday at 5.
The Warriors (14-3-3) defeated Valencia of Placentia, 16-6, on Saturday.
