Caleb Thatcher Gets Win on Mound, Homers Twice & Doubles in Marshall Fundamental’s 5-1 Victory Over Mayfair

Baseball:

Marshall Fundamental continued its solid start to the 2025 season on Saturday.

The Eagles defeated their visitors from Mayfair, 5-1, thanks to a 7-4 advantage in hits and solid pitching.

Caleb Thatcher had quite the impact.

Thatcher went three scoreless innings and allowed two hits to earn the win.

He didn’t issue a walk and got five of his six outs via strikeout.

At the plate, he went 3-for-3 with two solo home runs, a double, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Michael Gerst went three innings for the Eagles, and he allowed one unearned run on one hit.

Gerst walked two and struck out four Mayfair batters.

Ben Level got the final three outs.

Aiden Sullivan walked, singled and scored.

Tyler Brim went 2-for-3, and Dallas Montelongo had one hit to account for the rest of the Monsoons’ offense.

Israel Caro got the loss after allowing four runs on five hits over 3 1/3 innings.

Caro didn’t issue a walk, and he registered five strikeouts.

Trevor Lain singled, scored twice and his two-run HR in the bottom of the first inning gave Marshall a 2-0 lead.

Ben Muro went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a double.

Up next: The Eagles will host Western Christian on Tuesday at 3:30.
