Chino Hills got ahead of Roosevelt early on Wednesday, and they cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Mustangs.
Michael Chiotti, Anthony Medyn and Aydan Maxson combined on a five-hit shutout.
Chiotti went five scoreless and surrendered four hits.
He walked two and fanned three Roosevelt batters.
Medyn provided a scoreless sixth and allowed one hit.
Maxson retired the side in the seventh, including two strikeouts.
Xavier Romo, Dean Loyd, Brandon Lucas, Andrew Taylor and Lucas Hernandez had one single apiece to account for the Mustangs’ offense.
Chris Romo got the loss after allowing six runs (three earned) on five hits over three innings.
Romo issued a pair of walks and struck out one.
Rafael Perez provided three perfect innings in relief, and he fanned three CHHS batters.
Frankie Brazil doubled and scored.
Jacob Jimenez walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Branden Kim had an RBI double and scored.
Matt McCliman and Josh Mendez had one RBI single apiece.
Jackson Aguayo scored and had an RBI ground ball.
