Baseball:

Muir rode the right arm of Conrad Hunziker IV to earn Pacific League victory No. 1 on Monday afternoon.

Hoping to avoid a rainout on Tuesday, the Mustangs edged their visitors from Burbank High, 2-1.

Hunziker went the distance and allowed one run on four hits.

He issued a pair of walks and struck out five.

Hunziker needed 93 pitches to finish what he started, and 59 were strikes.

Robert Snyder was hit by pitch to lead off the game, and he came around to score on a wild pitch.

But that’s all the offense the Bulldogs offense could muster.

Snyder got the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits over six innings of work.

Snyder walked two and fanned six Muir batters.

MHS scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Bryant Soriano and Hunziker both went 2-for-3, and they score one run apiece.

Eduardo Sosa singled and drove in a run on a fielder’s choice.

Kahlil Rishwain and Sergio Rodriguez singled once each for the Mustangs.

Up next: The Mustangs head to Burbank on Friday at 3:45.
