Name : Julian Vigil
School : San Dimas
Sport : Football
Grade : Senior
Position : RB, WR & CB

Boys Athlete of the Week:

San Dimas headed into its week-five showdown at undefeated Monrovia as a four-point underdog by Calpreps.

What makes their site relevant is the fact that CIF-SS uses their rankings to set the first-round playoff pairings.

They’re accurate far more times than not, but on Friday, Calpreps gave the Saints a 40-percent chance of heading home with a win.

San Dimas apparently wasn’t having any of that, and they trounced the Wildcats, 42-14, at MHS.

The SDHS defense held Monrovia to 31 points under their weekly scoring average, and the Saints offense scored 23 points more than the MHS ‘D’ had averaged allowing through their first four games.

San Dimas senior Julian Vigil put the program on his shoulders last night.

Vigil carried the ball 16 times for a game-high 280 yards.

And that included a 48-and-24-yard rushing TD’s.

His first score extended the Saints lead to 28-14 early in the third quarter.

Vigil’s second TD run capped the night offensively for SDHS.

Aside from excellence on the offensive side of the ball, Vigil has also made himself a force in the Saints defensive backfield.

Through week-five, Vigil leads San Dimas in rushing yards (651) and rushing TD’s (9).

He’s also the Saints leader in receptions (12), receiving yards (267), receiving TD’s (2) and all-purpose yards (918).

Up next: The Saints open Valle Vista League play on Thursday, as they host West Covina.

The Bulldogs (2-3) are currently riding a two-game losing streak and a week-five bye.
