Boys Athlete of the Week:
The Maranatha boys soccer program and senior forward George Peterson had both a successful and prolific week.
The Minutemen secured a pair of Olympic League victories.
And they did so by a combined margin of 14-2.
On Tuesday, MHS crushed visiting Heritage, 10-0, and it was a historic offensive performance.
Not only did Peterson score four goals, which is termed a ‘haul,’ two other Maranatha players went off as well.
Miles Romero and Luca Youssefian both completed the hat-trick by scoring three goals apiece.
Three days later, MHS secured a 4-2 victory at Cerritos Valley Christian.
Peterson scored twice in Friday’s win, and he finished with six goals for the week.
With three games to play, the Minutemen narrowly trail first-place Whittier Christian, but they host thew Heralds in the regular season finale on Jan. 31.
