Boys Basketball:
Glendora opened the 2023 season with an 82-48 victory over Buena Park in the first round of the Sunny Hills Tournament.
The Tartans outscored the Coyotes, 37-18, in the second half to pull away.
Colton Gray led the way with 22 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals and four assists.
Sebastian Demano added 16 points, three rebounds and four assists.
Demano made four of his six three-point shots.
Elijah Regan chipped in with 13 points, three rebounds, and he was 3-of-6 from behind the 3-point line.
Garrett Dykstra finished with eight points and three boards.
Ian Wang contributed eight points in Monday’s win.
Vince Montalbo provided three points, while Joseph De La Rosa and Caden Smith chipped in with two points apiece.
Tanner Grable rounded out the scoring for GHS with one point.
Up next: The Tartans face Villa Park today (Tuesday) at 5.
The Spartans (1-0) defeated Wilson, 74-46, in their first-round contest.
