The greatest season in Bonita High School history came to an end on Thursday.
Torrance defeated the Bearcats, 3-2, in the CIF State Division 2 semifinal round.
Ryan Orange held BHS to just three hits.
In the top of the sixth inning, and trailing 2-0, Audrey Garza walked and Camryn Van Valkenburgh singled for the Bearcats.
Alyssa Doucette would tie the game at 2-2 with her two-run triple.
And Mireya Rico’s single accounted for the other Bearcats’ base hit.
Brooklyn Shroyer’s remarkable junior season ended with a loss, but not before helping to lead the program to their first CIF-SS (Division 3) championship in school history.
Shroyer allowed three runs on six hits
In spite of being under the weather, she was able to hold the Tartars offense to less than half of their eight-run scoring average.
This program will return many of its stars in 2023, s0 the immediate future looks very bright for BHS.
