Baseball:
Maranatha had an impressive showing at this week’s Santa Maria Tournament.
The Minutemen defeated (in this order) Lompoc (8-2), St. Francis (9-5), Righetti (3-2) and Central Catholic (4-2).
The Righetti and Central Catholic games were both played on Friday.
MHS has now won 13 consecutive games.
Game One Notes:
Trailing 2-1, Maranatha scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to claim a 3-2 victory.
RHS out-hit MHS, 11-6.
Riley Bassett went the distance, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits.
Bassett walked five and struck out seven Maranatha batters.
Josh Proctor walked and his two-out two-run single in the top of the seventh drove in the game winning runs.
Will Suslow singled and scored.
Zach Strickland walked and collected three singles.
Lukus Perez had an RBI ground out in the first inning.
Trevor Rivas walked and scored.
Niko Vergara singled and Quinn Imasaki scored once for the Minutemen.
Matt Vazquez got the win after going six innings and allowing two runs on nine hits.
Vazquez issued three walks and registered six strikeouts.
Kaden Lai got the final three outs to earn the save, including one via strikeout.
Mason Anderson walked and had a pair of singles.
Jacob McMillan singled and scored.
Tim DeVan went 2-for-4.
Noah Kesner walked, singled twice and scored.
Dominik Nevarez went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Riley Bassett doubled and Graysen Cole singled.

Carson Kelly went six innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits.
Kelly walked one and struck out nine.
Bradley Loiacono got the final three outs to earn the save, with one being a strikeout.
Chase Perino singled and scored.
Broden Thomas walked and scored.
Jacob Kiesel went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
AJ Miligi and Vaughn Anderson had one hit apiece.
Kayden McHenry got the loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits over 4 2/3 innings.
McHenry walked five and fanned three MHS batters.
Doug Zuniga doubled in a run and scored.
Noe Zavala singled and scored.
Niko Vergara and Moe Aguirre walked and scored one run apiece.
Josh Proctor singled.
