Baseball:
Bonita answered Wednesday’s frustrating loss to Claremont on Friday.
Two days ago, Edrian Rangel struck out 12 but only got one run of support.
That wouldn’t be the case on Friday.
Bonita out-hit Claremont, 12-6, and Luke Mistone did the rest in a 12-0 victory.
Mistone went six scoreless innings for the win, scattering three hits, walking two and striking out 11 Wolfpack batters.
Tristan Soliz actually gave up three hits in the seventh, but he worked his way out of the jam to secure the shutout.
Jacob Klinovsky singled and doubled for Claremont.
Aidan Ross got the loss, surrendering four runs on three hits over his 2 2/3 innings on Friday.
He walked three and struck out three Bearcats batters.
Devon Diaz was a beast, going 4-for-5, with two doubles, four runs scored and an RBI.
Ryan Kozma walked, singled, homered and drove in four runs.
Logan Corthell went 3-for-5, with four RBIs and scored one run.
Luke Mistone helped his own cause with a walk, two singles, a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Jordan Sheridan walked twice and scored two runs.
Up next: Bonita will host Glendora on Wednesday to begin a two-game Palomares League series with the Tartans, and Claremont will host the No. 1 program in CIF-SS Division 1, Ayala, on Wednesday.
Quotable:
Bonita coach, Ryan Marcos: “Today’s win was a total team effort with great energy all 7 innings. We fed off Mistone’s consistent effort and the hitters 1-9 carried it to the plate. Overall was a great effort against a competitive Claremont club. Big week coming up for us against a solid Glendora team.
