Volleyball:
Two days after being swept by Rio Hondo Prep, the Duarte girls’ volleyball program bounced back nicely with a sweep of their own at Workman.
The Falcons evened their season record at 3-3.
DHS won by scores of 30-28, 25-13 and 25-17.
Freshman Victoria Zaragoza has been leading the Duarte offense, and she had 11 kills, 11 digs and three aces.
Jimena Valencia provided seven aces.
Kayla Odom chipped in with seven kills and a pair of aces.
Violet McLaughlin (11) and Kyra Diaz (12) combined for 23 assists in the win.

Duarte coach, Jeffrey Thai: “When I took over the program, I came in with a very ambitious set of goals. Our summer program consisted of double days every day at 6am and 4pm. This program is young, with my oldest starters being two juniors, but they are hungry and eager to learn. They have grown a lot since the beginning of summer, but they all understand that we are a long way from where we want to be.”
