If the first three games of the Baseline League portion of their 2025 schedule is any indication, Upland is in for a long month ahead.
On the flip side, Rancho Cucamonga is now 13-3 overall after its three-game sweep of the Highlanders.
RCHS improved to 3-0 in Baseline League play after victories of 7-1, 17-4 and 5-0 over UHS on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
The Cougars outscored the Highlanders, 29-5, thanks to a 32-20 advantage in base hits.
Jacob Peyton tossed a four-hit shutout.
Peyton issued one walk and registered 10 strikeouts.
He got nine Highlanders on strikes at least once.
Of his 94 pitches, 65 were strikes.
Darien Maung, Elliot Cresap, Carson Kinnick and Dom Nava had one hit apiece to account for the UHS offense.
Max Biddle went 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.
Biddle walked three and struck out three RCHS batters.
Grant Thomas’ two-run double in the fifth gave Rancho Cucamonga a 4-0 lead.
Thomas also drew a walk and scored.
Aiden Bravo went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Brock Foulds walked, doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Jose Gomez walked, singled and scored two times.
Beau Briggs contributed with an RBI single.
Peyton helped his own cause.
His sac fly in the third inning gave RCHS a 1-0 lead.
Ethan Diaz singled for the Cougars.
