Boys Basketball:
Xavier Clinton knew Damien wouldn’t be playing for two weeks after Wednesday’s game against the San Gabriel Academy.
And the Spartans senior wanted to make the best of it.
So, Clinton hit eight 3-pointers, and scored 39 points in Damien’s 81-43 victory over the Eagles.
Clinton also went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
As a team, DHS converted on 15-of-18 from the charity stripe.
Damien had a 40-13 lead at the break.
Nate Garcia and Eli Garner chipped in with 10 points apiece.
Mo Traore led SGA with 11 points and Bastien Moreau finished with 10.
Damien is now 11-1.
Up next: The Spartans are off until Dec. 27, when they host Sunnyslope (5-2) from Phoenix at 5:30 at the Classic at Damien.
