Boys Tennis:

Thanks to La Salle coach, Javier Djeu for this season recap:

What a tremendous year it was for the Lancers boys’ tennis program.

They’ll wrap up their regular season play with individual prelims and finals this week.

In doubles, La Salle took first, second and third place.

In singles, we took third place overall.

In the first semifinal match, Anthony Gibbs and Aaron Zhao took on Bishop Montgomery’s No. 1 doubles tandem.

La Salle won in a convincing manner by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.

The second semifinal match pitted two Lancers’ doubles teams against one another.

In a hard-fought match, Alex Wang and Tim Liu defeated John Khalaf and Ryan Chu, 6-4 and 6-1.

Playing for the Del Rey League doubles title, both teams played hard, but Aaron/Anthony defeated Alex/ Tim 7-5, 6-4.

Both teams will be moving on to the Southern California CIF-SS individual playoffs next month.

In the third-place match, coming back from a set down, Khalaf/Chu defeated the team from Bishop Montgomery, 1-6, 6-4 and 10-7 in the third set.

In the singles draw, La Salle had Teddy Miller competing for a spot in the finals.

Unfortunately, he came up short against his opponent from Bishop Montgomery, but he managed to win 6-1, 7-6 in the 3rd place match over another opponent from Don Bosco.

The boys move their attention to team CIF playoffs, which begins this upcoming Wednesday.

La Salle also completed the perfect season, going 10-0 to win the Del Rey League, and they’ll go into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Division 5.
