Baseball:
Thanks to Wednesday’s 4-1 victory at West Covina, Charter Oak takes a one-game lead over the Bulldogs for second place in the Valle Vista League.
COHS and WCHS meet up again on Friday in the regular season finale at Charter Oak.
Zack Escalera went six innings, and he allowed one run on four hits.
Escalera issued a pair of walks and fanned eight WCHS batters.
Christian Salinas with 2-for-4 with a double and run scored.
Austin Nguyen singled twice for the Bulldogs.
Jacob Patino had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to pull West Covina to within 3-1 of Charter Oak.
Edwin Segovia singled.
Segovia was also charged with the loss after surrendering three runs on three hits over four innings.
Segovia walked four and fanned six COHS batters.
Moses Medrano went 4-for-4 with a three-run double in the top of the first inning to set the tone early.
Escalera went 2-for-3 with a walk, and he scored one run.
Martin Luna walked, doubled and scored.
Vincent Carrillo singled and scored.
Jorge Aceves walked and scored.
Up next: The Chargers host the Bulldogs on Friday at 3:30.
