Baseball:

Pasadena ended its 2022 regular season on a high note.

The Bulldogs won six of their last nine games in Pacific League play after an 0-5 beginning.

PHS also shut out rival Muir, 1-0, on Tuesday, and 6-0 on Wednesday, to earn the season sweep.

Ben Griffith went the distance and threw a three-hit shutout.

Griffith walked two and struck out nine Mustangs’ batters.

It took the PHS senior 91 pitches to finish what he started, and 59 of the 91 went for strikes.

Owen Grice, Makhi Clark and Diego Huzar had one single apiece to account for the Muir offense.

Pasadena got at least one run off all four Muir pitchers.

Casey Skett singled twice, scored a pair of runs and hit a solo home run.

Evan Coad walked, singled and drove in two runs.

Griffith helped his own cause with a walk, single, run and RBI.

Justin Goldman singled and scored.

Ray Armas walked twice and singled and Stephen Houlemard walked and singled.

James Lievense walked, scored and had an RBI.

Jabbari Salahuddin walked and scored.

Also on their 2022 resume: Pasadena knocked off first-place Arcadia on April 19, and the Bulldogs handed second-place Burroughs its first league loss after they started 5-0 in Pacific League play.

Quotable:

PHS pitcher, Ben Griffith: “My fastball was definitely working and I was locating it well. My curveball was sharp and kept them off balance. Sweeping Muir is one of our goals each season, so it felt great to accomplish that the past two seasons. We definitely had a slow start, but we were in all our games early but went flat at the start of league play. We came together after the Burbank & CV series’ and started playing more as a team and focused on being better teammates, which was a main factor in our success. You can’t win or achieve success in baseball unless you commit yourself to the team.”
