Evan Avitia Allows One Unearned Run Over Six Innings & Strikes Out 4 in Charter Oak’s 6-1 Victory at Santa Fe

Baseball:

For the first time in the 2022 season, Charter Oak has climbed above the .500 mark.

The Chargers began the year 1-4, but COHS finds itself on a four-game win streak after Thursday’s 6-1 victory at Santa Fe.

Evan Avitia went six innings and allowed just an unearned run to pick up the win.

Avitia allowed three hits, walked three and struck out four.

Alek Gavaghan provided a scoreless seventh inning of relief and struck out one to close out the win.

Zach Bertram went 2-for-2, and Steven Mendoza scored the Chiefs’ lone run.

Nathaniel Zelidon got the loss for Santa Fe.

Zelidon surrendered five runs (four earned) on four hits in 4 1/ innings.

He walked three and struck out to COHS batters.

Samuel Morales walked, singled and drove in a run.

Chris Gonzalez singled, doubled and scored.

Anthony Vazquez walked, singled and scored a pair of runs.

Dave Montoya singled, doubled and drove in two runs.

Diego Ortiz had an RBI double and scored.

Ezekial Escalera singled and scored

Alek Gavaghan walked and scored.

Alejandro Blanquet had an RBI on a sac fly.

Up next: COHS will travel to Rancho Cucamonga on Friday afternoon.
