West Covina Hits 2 Home Runs & Savannah Hernandez Keeps Azusa Bats Quiet in Thursday’s 6-1 Victory

Softball:

West Covina handed Azusa its first loss of the season on Thursday.

The Bulldogs hit two home runs and defeated the Aztecs, 6-1, to improve to 2-1.

Juliana Canizales got the loss, going all six innings and allowing six runs on six hits.

Canizales walked five and struck out two WCHS batters.

Emily Velasco was 3-for-4, with an RBI.

Arianna Urias hit her first home run of the season and drove in three runs.

Evangelina Ramos also went deep for the Bulldogs.

Freshman pitcher, Savannah Hernandez, earned her second win of the season, allowing just one run on three hits.

Canizales helped herself with an RBI base hit, and Mia Pedroza singled, tripled and scored for the Aztecs.

Up next: WCHS will host Garey on Monday, and Azusa has a home game against Temple City on Tuesday.
