Girls Tennis:
The San Dimas High School girls tennis program has already made history.
When the Saints defeated La Quinta of Westminster, 12-6, in the semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 4 playoffs, they earned the first title-match appearance in school history.
But they’re not content with just getting there.
SDHS will face off with Long Beach Poly on Friday at the Claremont Club at 1:30.
The Jackrabbits earned their spot with an 11-7 victory over the Geffen Academy.
But back to Wednesday.
The San Dimas singles players went a combined 8-1.
At No. 1, Natalie Arana, cruised with match victories of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0.
Lexis Hsieh also went 3-0 at No. 2 singles, and did so by scores of 7-5, 6-4 and 6-2.
Sophia Cabalfin won two of her three matches, 6-2, 4-6 and 6-1.
But it’s the No. 1 doubles team of Abby Bernhard and Mila Mattson that have been especially clutch.
Bernhard and Mattson are undefeated in both Valle Vista League matches and the CIF-SS playoffs.
On Wednesday, the two sophomores won all three of their matches by scores of 6-0, 6-1, 6-0.
The No. 2 team of Sophia Albasha/Jasmine Brown went 1-2, and their match scores were 7-5, 1-6 and 3-6.
