Football:
Citrus spotted visiting Saddleback a 20-0 lead in week two of the JC football season.
And the Owls trailed by as many as 29 points (36-7) with just two and a half minutes gone by in the fourth quarter.
The boys from Glendora put up 29 fourth-quarter points, but a 50-yard field goal by Manuel Maganda ended up being the difference in a 39-36 shootout.
Maganda had field goals of 30, 41 and 50 yards.
Citrus had a 470-305 advantage in total offense.
Lorenza Simmons broke two single-game records on Saturday.
He had game highs in receptions (10), receiving yards (301) and TD catches (3).
Simmons also had 204 return yards, including an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD in the fourth quarter.
His 301 receiving yards and 505 all-purpose yards are both Citrus single-game records.
Connor Underhill completed 26-of-42 for 478 yards.
That included four TDs and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a 100-yard pick-six by Quayden Coleman.
The Owls could not get the run game going.
Keyonn Chatman and Underhill combined to gain 20 yards on 20 carries.
Cameron Bateman caught five passes for 89 yards.
Elijah Ybanez led the Citrus defense with nine tackles.
Aidan Yamazaki, Francisco Tarango Franco and Bear Baker with eight tackles apiece.
Yamazaki had a sack and two tackles for-loss.
Jake Davidson went 12-for-23 for 107 yards for Saddleback.
Elijah Ayala (7-for-55), Leonidas Bell (9-for-52) and Keoni Ihu-Rodrigues (12-for-49) combined to gain 156 yards on 28 carries and one TD.
Jaydus Green (4-for-62) and Francisco Martinez (5-for-36) had nine receptions for 98 yards.
Up next: The Owls will host San Diego Mesa next Saturday at 6.
The Olympians (2-0) edged visiting Mt. SAC, 20-19, thanks to a 42-yard field goal from Lorenzo Flores.
