Football:
Glendora won its fifth consecutive game to start the 2021 season on Thursday night.
The Tartans defeated West Covina, 28-6, at Citrus College.
GHS led 28-0 in the fourth quarter until Deven Muniz caught a 29-yard scoring strike from Steven De Luna.
Christian Sampson got Glendora on the board in the first quarter by picking off a Bulldogs’ pass and ran it back 40 yards for a 7-0 lead.
Braydon Brus rushed for 44 yards on seven carries, including TD runs of 7 and 1 yard.
The Northwestern commit also picked off a pass on defense.
Zach Ford led the Tartans ground game with 100 yards on 13 carries.
Ford’s 7-yard TD run in the third quarter extended the GHS lead to 28-0.
Trey Byrd also intercepted a WCHS pass, Matthew Jordan recovered a muffed punt, and Connor Meholovitch picked up a Bulldogs’ fumble.
GHS has now defeated West Ranch, Covina, Charter Oak, Los Altos and WCHS by a combined margin of 169-55.
Up next: GHS and WCHS will both be on the road next week.
The Bulldogs head to Charter Oak on Thursday and the Tartans will travel to Diamond Ranch on Friday night.
