Football:
Make that three consecutive victories for Bonita over rival San Dimas.
The Bearcats defeated the Saints, 28-14, in Saturday’s Smudge Pot showdown at Covina District Field.
Bonita took a 28-7 lead into the fourth quarter and the Bearcats defense was able to hold the run-friendly Saints offense to just one second-half score.
Bonita’s Daniel Andrade threw three TD passes, including a pair to Isaiah Portillo, and one to Luke Smith.
Kalim Mitchell scored the other Bearcats TD and rushed for nearly 110 yards on Saturday.
San Dimas quarterback Teyondre Coleman threw a TD pass to Shawn D’Amato, but the Saints air attack never really got going in the loss.
Four-time CIF champion, Steve Bogan, is now 3-0 versus his San Dimas counterpart, Mark Holman.
Up next: Bonita will host Los Osos on Friday and San Dimas will travel to Schurr.
Box Score:
