The San Dimas High School varsity girls’ volleyball team kept its strong start to the season rolling, claiming a hard-fought four-set victory over Walnut High School (25-12, 25-17, 23-25, 25-18) on Thursday night to push their overall record to an impressive 11-2.

The Saints set the tempo early with a dominant 25-12 opening set before keeping the pressure on with a 25-17 victory in the second.

Walnut responded in the third frame, capitalizing on key points late to pull out a 23-25 set win and keep the match alive.

However, San Dimas quickly regrouped in the fourth, using a balanced attack and crisp net play to lock down the 25-18 match-closing set.

It was a true complete-team victory for the Saints, featuring strong performances at the net and crucial depth off the bench:

Neriah Bobadilla spearheaded the attack with a monster night at the net, firing off a team-high 15 kills while making her presence felt defensively with 4 blocks.

Taylor Smith put on a playmaker showcase, filling the stat sheet with 8 kills, a team-leading 24 assists, and 4 blocks.

Emilia Chiappone provided major offensive punch on the outside, finishing with 11 kills.

Kallisa Disney kept the offense fluid and defense stable, dishing out 13 assists and picking up 6 digs.

Eva Huynh delivered a standout performance stepping in for starting libero Maile Carranza (out due to illness), anchoring the Saints’ backline and leading the team with 9 digs.

San Dimas won’t have much time to celebrate the victory, as the Saints shift straight into tournament play this afternoon when they kick off pool play in the Whittier Classic.
