After a pair out blowout losses to Charter Oak (16-1) and Bishop Amat (11-1), Covina secured a 1-0 victory at Wilson.
The Colts scored the lone run of the game in the top of the seventh.
With one Valle Vista League game to play, CHS (7-2) is one-game back of first-place Charter Oak, and one-game ahead of third-place Northview.
Covina out-hit Wilson, 9-2.
Alexander Galaviz went six scoreless innings and surrendered just a pair of hits.
Galaviz issued two walks and registered 11 strikeouts.
Isaac Flores retired the side in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Jariah Morales and Rob Drieslein had one single apiece to account for the Wilson offense.
Morales went 5 2/3 scoreless innings and scattered three hits.
Morales walked one and struck out three Covina batters.
Marcus Isidro got the loss after surrendering an unearned one on three hits.
Isidro didn’t give away a walk and struck out one batter.
Donovan Johnson went 2-for-4, including his two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Aaron Cordova singled and scored.
Ethan Echeverria was hit by pitch and had a pair of singles.
Kevin Mitchell doubled.
Evan Chavez walked and singled.
Alexander Galaviz and Aiden Ayala had one single apiece for the Colts.
