Boys Hoops:
Talk about finishing strong.
After going 2-3 start to Palomares League play, Bonita found a way to earn a share of the league title.
The Bearcats went 5-0 in the second round of league.
And that included Monday’s 70-53 decisive victory at first-place Ayala.
AHS had defeated BHS, 75-67, back on January the 16th in La Verne.
Bonita led 37-23 at the half, and they closed out the win in Chino Hills on an 18-12 run.
The Bearcats had a massive 12-4 advantage in 3-pointers.
Beau Rudometkin and Jakson Clement tied for a game-high 15 points.
Rudometkin did his part on offense and defense.
And Clement hit five 3-pointers in the win.
Brayden Henderson finished with 10 points.
James Kim and Carson Zylstra chipped in with eight points apiece.
All eight for Zylsta came in the second half, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Kyle Chang led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
Brenden White finished with eight points.
Zach Canellopoulos, Isaiah Dolloso and Milo Tun scored seven points apiece and Joshua Townsell produced six points in the loss.

Quotable:
BHS coach, Tim Godley: “We’ve just been playing well. The kids have really embraced the need to play with energy on defense. It’s a huge win and it can play into the seeding. I felt like James Kim, Beau Rudometkin, Josef Al-Shatti and Jalen Pineda pretty really well.”
BHS senior, Beau Rudometkin: “I think we won this game by a solid margin mainly because of the film and preparation we had going into the game. We were really focused on defense and not forcing our offense. I felt that my main purpose for this game was to rebound the ball and keep my mind off scoring since defense and rebounding would play a larger contribution for this game. I want to send praise to Carson Zylstra because he did a really good job on his defensive assignment (Brenden White) and he also hit some really influential shots within the offense.”
BHS senior, Jakson Clement: “I feel we won this game due to our energy right from the start of the game to the finish, and we didn’t play with any selfishness. I felt like I needed to play my part on defense and offense as well. I was prepared when I got open shots on offense. I would say Brayden Henderson helped push us to the win with his drive and kicks and finishing around the rim.”
