Football:

Last week, Pasadena quarterback Dutch Burbidge had what he acknowledged as his worst start of the season.

That’s not saying much, because the Bulldogs junior has been outstanding all year.

Burbidge is believed to be the only SGV area quarterback that had yet to toss an interception through the first six games of 2025.

However, on October 10th, Burbidge proved he’s human after all, and PHS headed home from Burbank with a 35-14 setback, which was their first Pacific League loss of the season.

The slender Pasadena QB was 16-of-30 for 247 yards with no TDs and three picks.

To be fair to Burbidge, he still accounted for 315 yards of total offense.

Fast forward one week, and Pasadena left Sofi Stadium with a 27-21 victory over Crescenta Valley to improve to 5-1 in Pacific League action.

The Bulldogs took a 27-7 lead into the fourth quarter before the Falcons scored a pair of TDs.

CV got to within approximately 30 yards from victory after a long fourth-down run came up just shy of extending the game.

On Thursday, Burbidge completed 18-of-26 for 195 yards with one TD and one interception.

Burbidge led the Pasadena ground game with 55 yards on six carries, including a 2-yard TD run.

Synncere Pitts gained 13 yards on seven carries and one score.

Xavion Flournoy rushed for 23 yards on five carries.

Pitts also had four receptions for 48 yards, which included a 6-yard TD pass from Burbidge.

Damari Pitts totaled 88 receiving yards on six catches.

Kyle Robertson reeled in five passes for 40 yards.

Robertson also returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a quick 7-0 lead.

Sebastian Clark led PHS with 12 tackles, while J’hari Teasley-Hall had 11.

Justin Avila totaled six tackles and a sack.

Michael Ambrose had six tackles of his own and an interception.

Up next: The Bulldogs will host Arcadia next week before facing off with the most dominant team in the Pacific League in the Turkey Tussle.

Quotable:

PHS quarterback, Dutch Burbidge: “I’m glad we were able to get it done with CV. After last week, I am just excited to keep moving forward with our execution on offense. It was amazing to get an opportunity to play in an NFL stadium, especially Sofi Stadium.
