Although its 2024 season came to an end on Saturday in a CIF-SS Division 7 semifinal loss (8-6) to Eastside, Muir made gigantic progress and they should be celebrated.
Their 21 wins is the program’s most in at least 20 years.
And MaxPreps only dates back to 2005, so it’s likely to be much longer than a couple of decades.
It’s also their first winning season in at least 20 years.
They also tied the Pacific League champions from Burroughs for most season wins in 2024.
MHS was also the last Pacific League program standing.
Muir’s softball program hadn’t been relevant in decades.
In fact, between 2005-2012, the Mustangs went a combined 0-82.
To put their success in its proper perspective, considering the following: The 21 wins this season matches the program’s win totals in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 combined.
They claimed D-7 playoff victories over Coastal Christian (8-4), Orangewood Academy (14-4) and ACE (23-3) before falling 8-6 on Saturday.
I wanted to give the program some well-deserved love (publicity).
