Softball:
Cameryn Ortega absolutely mowed down La Canada in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs.
The Etiwanda senior tossed a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory at LCHS.
Ortega didn’t issue a walk and struck out 13 Spartans.
She fanned eight separate La Canada batters at least once, and 75 of her 98 pitches were strikes.
Elle Leckrone had two of LCHS’ three base hits, and Grace Rocco had the other.
The game was locked in a 0-0 tie until the top of the fifth when EHS scored three times.
Leckrone got the loss after allowing three unearned runs on two hits over 4 2/3 innings.
Leckrone issued a pair of walks and fanned two EHS batters.
Brianna Gutierrez went 2-for-4 with an RBI double.
Taylor Wren doubled and scored.
Gisselle Peraza had an RBI double and scored.
Frankie Nevarez walked, singled twice and scored.
Alyssa Galindo was hit by pitch, and she had an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning.
Kimmy Aleman hit a solo HR in the sixth to extend the EHS lead to 4-0.
Karrington Bennett had a sac bunt, reached on an error and scored.

The Sea Hawks (19-6) earned its quarterfinal round ticket with a 4-1 victory at Sierra Canyon.
