Girls Basketball:
Marshall Fundamental earned a spot in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round of the CIF-SS Division 4AA playoffs.
The Eagles secured a 51-47 victory at Corona on Saturday night.
Marshall outscored their host in the first, second and fourth quarters.
Corona used a 19-12 run in the third quarter to even the game at 35-35, but the Eagles would close the game on a 16-12 surge.
Madelyn Degooyer led the Eagles with 17 points.
Destiny Ihiaso had 12, and Kaitlan Sakuma chipped in with 11 points.
Fia Liaga scored a game-high 23 points for Corona, and Chinazaekpere Irechukwu contributed eight points in a losing cause.
Joylynn Abilar provided nine points in Saturday’s win.
Up next: The Eagles will host Canyon from Anaheim in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday evening.
The Comanches (19-11) defeated visiting Marina, 70-46, in their second round game.
