Girls Basketball:
A pair of 20-plus win teams met up Saturday night in Pasadena.
And in a game that can only help prepare both programs for the playoffs, La Salle defeated visiting South Pasadena, 57-49.
It was a shootout between the Tigers’ Dylan Tse and the Lancers’ Audrey Chen.
Tse had a game-high three 3-pointers, and she finished with 23 points.
Chen scored 23 of her own, and she had one 3-pointer of her own.
The Lancers led by one point after the first eight minutes, and they went on a 17-7 run in the second quarter.
Kayla Boozer chipped in with 19 points for South Pasadena.
Kaden Cortes provided 11 points in the win, and Casey Higgins added nine points.
Up next: The Lancers close out Del Rey League play with two games next week.
La Salle will travel to Bishop Montgomery on Tuesday, and host St. Mary’s Academy on Thursday.
On Saturday, the Lancers will welcome Ramona Convent to their gym on Senior Night.
Quotable:
La Salle coach, Scott Wiard: “I’m really proud of our team tonight. Our kids really locked into the scouting report for the entire game. Dylan Tse and Kayla Boozer are special players, so you’re not going to stop them, but I felt like we really made them work for their baskets tonight. Offensively, I thought we moved the ball well and took the shots that came to us. Audrey made some big plays all night, as special players do, but it was our balance that made us successful.”
