Damien Completes Three-Game Baseline League Sweep; Spartans Edge Etiwanda, 9-7, on Friday

To say Damien wore out Etiwanda’s pitching staff this week would be an understatement.

The Spartans closed out a three-game Baseline League sweep of the Eagles on Friday with a 9-7 victory.

Over the past five days, Damien outscored Etiwanda, 35-15, and out-hit the Eagles, 37-21.

Alec Beck was credited with the win after allowing three unearned runs on four hits over his four innings of work.

Beck didn’t walk anyone and struck out three.

Daniel Barrera went the first three innings, and he surrendered four runs (two earned) on three hits.

Barrera walked three and struck out a pair.

Austen Roellig singled, homered and scored twice.

Jack Holman walked, doubled and scored twice and, Alfredo Capacete singled and scored.

Abraham Zapata singled, tripled and drove in three runs.

Michael Harrison walked and scored and Eric Valles doubled and scored.

Jorge Solares went four innings for Etiwanda and allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits.

He walked two and struck out three Damien batters.

Luke Mariscal allowed five runs on four hits over his two innings of work.

Mariscal walked three and fanned three Spartans.

Kaden Moeller homered yet again, and drove in two runs.

Matt Clark walked twice and scored three runs.

Alec Beck had a two-run triple and scored one run.

Sebastian Arguelles doubled, tripled, scored and drove in two runs.

Ivan Aguirre walked, singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI.

JD Dunn singled and scored, and Tyler Daley walked and scored.

Up next: Etiwanda will host Los Osos on Monday to begin a three-game set with the Grizzlies.

Damien will travel to Upland for the first of three games next week with the Highlanders.
