Girls Volleyball:
Marshall Fundamental avoided a devastating loss on Friday.
The Lady Eagles, who are tied for third in the Mission Valley League standings with just one more match to play with Mountain View, escaped El Monte with a five-set victory.
The Lions are just 2-17 in 2023.
But all that matters is scoreboard, and it read, 25-23, 24-26, 25-15, 21-25 and 15-12.
Eve 15 kills, five digs and three aces.
Alexis Delgado chipped in with seven kills, five blocks and a pair of aces.
Ava Desiongco finished with 29 assists, eight aces and four digs.
Alex Powell and Liv Teems provided five kills apiece in Friday’s win
Up next: The Lady Eagles face Panorama (6-20) this morning (Saturday) at 10 am.
And on Wednesday, Marshall closes out the regular season against visiting Mountain View in a Mission Valley League match.
