Baseball:
The No. 1 ranked team in the latest CIF-SS Division 1 poll traveled to play a program with just one win in 2021.
It seemed like a mismatch.
And it was.
Ayala got six scoreless innings from starter Thomas Cerecedes and cruised to an 8-0 victory at Colony to stay atop the Palomares League standings.
Cerecedes scattered three hits, walked one and struck out five.
Trent Merrill came in and closed out the victory with a perfect seventh inning in relief, including a strikeout.
Nathan Valdivia got the loss.
Valdavia went 6 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on eight hits.
He walked three and struck out one.
Jacob Badawi singled twice and scored a pair of runs.
Cole Koniarsky singled twice, doubled, drove in two and scored a run.
Mateo Matthews hit a three-run shot for the Bulldogs.
Ryan Moreno singled, doubled and drove in a run.
