Girls Volleyball:
It hasn’t been the best of times for the Arcadia volleyball program.
The Apaches entered Wednesday’s showdown with Burroughs having lost six of their last seven matches.
Arcadia, however, bounced back and defeated Burroughs in five sets.
The Apaches won by scores of 25-18, 13-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 15-6.
With two matches to play, Arcadia controls its own destiny and can finish as high as second place in the Pacific League standings.
Deanna Chen had 10 kills.
Jocelyn Sanchez contributed eight kills, and Adelyn Wang chipped in with eight kills and 12 digs.
Abigail Yeoh provided 12 kills and three digs.
Chayse Hoon finished with eight kills, and Megumi Green had 20 digs.
Up next: Arcadia will host Glendale on Monday at 3:30.
And on Thursday, the Apaches close out their regular-season schedule at first-place Crescenta Valley.
Quotable:
Arcadia coach, Stephen Bernabe: “It feels good to win again, and unless something drastic happens, we have a match on Monday that determines second in our league. Everyone got to contribute today, and our numbers show that. If we can figure out how to play like a team in playoffs, we can do something special again.”
