Loyola Hammers North Torrance Pitching in 14-5 Victory; Cubs Hand Saxons First Loss in 2021

After losses on Saturday (Mission Viejo) & Monday (Bonita), Loyola bounced back in a big way.

The Cubs pounded North (Torrance) pitching for 11 hits in a 14-5 victory over the Saxons on Tuesday.

Brynner Waiolama went the first four innings for North and allowed four runs (one earned) on three hits.

He walked two and struck out a pair of Cubs.

Aaron Fernandez was stuck with the loss after giving up four runs (three earned) on one hit and three walks in just 1/3 of an inning.

Luca DiPaolo walked, singled, doubled and scored four runs.

Alex Orman went 2-for-3, with a walk, three RBIs and a run.

Kyle Hampton walked, singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Ethan Haggarty singled, scored and drove in three.

Tino Valdez went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Carson Chavez walked twice, scored two runs, singled and had an RBI.

Sammy Morales got the win after five innings of work for Loyola.

He allowed four runs on nine hits, walking one and fanning three.

Oliver Schaack closed out the Saxons with two innings of relief and allowed just a run.

Delshaun Lanier walked, doubled, scored and drove in three runs in the loss.

In its first three games, North had defeated West Covina, Lakewood and California by a combined margin of 20-9.

Up next: Loyola will travel to Fullerton on Wednesday.
