Quotable:
Bonita coach, Ryan Marcos: “Baseball fans love the Palomares League, because fans get to watch six quality baseball programs battle every Tuesday & Thursday. The parity between teams provides for some good baseball. It’s always a battle and there’s no gimme’s, and each team understands the one ultimate truth: Baseball is a funny game sometimes. A guy hits the ball hard all day, but goes 0-4, pitcher makes a great pitch but the batter finds a bloop single, ball takes a funny hop and a runner advances. Those are the uncontrollables of baseball.
At the end of the day, we want to be the team who plays the game with passion and intensity, focusing more on what we can control and executing our game plan. Today, Bubba did what he was supposed to do. He attacked the zone with all pitches and trusted his defense to get his back. He always pitches with passion and intensity and he’s our pitcher who sounds like a tennis player in a grand slam tournament, always grunting and working hard. We love to watch him get after it.”
Bonita pitcher, Tristan Rambaud: “From the start, I had good control of my curveball and fastball hitting my spots and using my pitches wisely. The third inning was a little shaky. I left a couple pitches up for the Claremont hitters to hit and they did their job and put a couple runs on the board. We didn’t let it bother us and we battled back and came up with the win. The Palomares League is not a joke. You can’t take any teams lightly, as everyone is going out on the field with the purpose to win. As a pitcher, the mindset is what really matters to go the distance. Having that bulldog mentality and trying to give everyone your best pitch no matter who’s up to bat. Mentality played a huge role for me tonight and helped me push through that game to come out on top.”
