Baseball:
Charter Oak won its third consecutive game on Saturday.
The Chargers defeated visiting Marina, 7-1, behind a strong outing from Chris Gonzalez.
Gonzalez went five scoreless innings and scattered four hits.
He didn’t walk anyone and struck out eight.
Jacob Gonzalez finished off the Vikings, allowing one run on two hits over his two innings on the mound.
He didn’t issue a walk and struck out three.
Tyler Wilson doubled and scored Marina’s lone run in the top of the seventh inning.
Thomas Sherwood was stuck with the loss.
Sherwood surrendered five runs (three earned) on nine hits over five innings.
He walked one and struck out six COHS batters.
Evan Avitia singled, doubled, scored and drove in two runs.
Samuel Morales doubled and scored.
Alek Gavaghan had two singles and scored twice.
Anthony Vasquez singled and doubled, and Christian Gonzalez went 2-for-3 in the win.
Diego Ortiz singled and scored.
Dave Montoya singled, scored and drove in a run.
Alejandro Blanquet had an RBI single for the Chargers.
Up next: COHS will travel to Santa Fe on Thursday afternoon.
