Quotable:
La Canada coach, Nathan Bernstein: “We were 1-11 two years ago, went 8-4 in 2026 and now we’re the league champions. We felt pretty confident that we’d compete for a league title this season. Expectations are one thing, but going out and doing it is another. Ross Piken had a huge day for us, including his three-run home run in the ninth. I have a ton of respect for Monrovia and for Coach Blackmore and what he’s built. Monrovia always has a lot of toughness and grit. We’re just happy to get it done, because we have nothing but respect for that program. Fritz Phillips gave us an incredible performance. It was only his second start of the season and he worked his way out of a couple of jams. It was nice to see a senior like Scotty Burns come in and get the job done on the mound like he did.”
