Baseball:
After 11 days off, South Hills was finally back on the field to open a three-game Hacienda League series with their visitors from Colony.
The Huskies took an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
To their credit, the Titans scored once in the second and fifth innings, and they tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth.
South Hills, though, scored once in the bottom half of the sixth to claim a 5-4 victory.
Gunner Montez went four innings and he was charged with four runs (three earned) on three hits.
He walked three, hit four batters and fanned a trio of Huskies.
Mike Huicochea surrendered one run on three hits over his two innings of work.
He didn’t issue a walk and registered two strikeouts.
Richie Soto had a two-run double in the first inning and scored.
Carson Baker walked, went 2-for-4 with a run, and his RBI single in the sixth drove in the game winning run.
Victor Merlos had an RBI single.
Diego Villarreal was hit by pitch, walked, singled and scored.
Gabriel Guerrero walked, singled and scored.
Paxton Czubek was hit by pitch in the first inning and he came around to score.
Czubek went four innings and he surrendered one run on one hit and two hit batters.
Czubek walked two and fanned three CHS batters.
Nicholas Carrillo was charged with one run on one hit over an inning of work.
He walked one and struck out one batter.
Marc Morales was credited with the win, going two innings and allowing two runs on three hits.
Morales issued one walk and registered one strikeout.
Aidan Castro walked, scored, singled in a run in the second inning and had a two-run double in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.
Brody Litwin had an RBI single.
Antonio Huacuja singled and scored.
AJ Rangel drew a pair of walks, singled and scored.
Max Barrientos walked and scored.
Up next: The Huskies travel to Ontario today (Tuesday)to battle the Titans in game two.
