Huelster, Blackmore & Grise Combine for 3 HRs, 2 Doubles & 13 RBIs in Monrovia’s 17-8 RHL Opening Victory at Temple City

Baseball:

Monrovia pounded their way to a 17-8 Rio Hondo League opening victory at Temple City.

The Wildcats led 7-0 before the Rams tied it up in the bottom of the second.

MHS would close out the game with nine unanswered runs.

They out-hit TCHS, 14-8, including a 7-2 advantage in extra-base hits.

Devon Cobb got roughed up for eight runs on seven hits over three innings.

Cobb issued seven walks and struck out five Monrovia batters.

Evan Huelster went 3-for-3 with a walk, was hit by pitch, had an RBI single, two-run HR and a three-run HR.

Braydon Blackmore had a pair of singles and doubles, scored twice and drove in four runs.

Troy Grise went 1-for-1 with a home run, three RBIs and he scored three times.

Grise was also hit by pitch twice.

Lucas Martinez drew a pair of walks, scored twice, singled and led off the game with a solo HR.

Braedon Petteruto-Shine walked twice, doubled, scored three runs and drove in one.

Greyson Lorenzini and Jayden Castaneda walked and scored one run apiece.

Kaleb Ellison walked and singled.

Mateo Hauge singled, scored twice and drove in one run.

Sutton Powers singled, and James Quesenbery drove in a run on a sac fly.

Quesenbery earned the win after going four innings and allowing one run on three hits.

Quesenbery issued one walk and registered five strikeouts.

Peyton Navarat doubled, tripled, scored and drove in three runs for the Rams.

Andy Kobayashi went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Richard Quimiro singled in a run and scored.

Tyler Womack was hit by pitch twice, walked and scored.

Gavin Hang drew a pair of walks, had an RBI and scored one run.

Nate Platon walked, singled, scored and drove in one run.

Bodie Kelley walked and scored.

Josh Jones and Nicholas Palomo had one hit apiece in the loss.
