Quotable:
South Hills coach, Darren Murphy: “This is the first year playing three times in a week and it is going to create some challenges. Playing back to back on Monday and Tuesday is unusual with no practice in between. Our pitching was outstanding again tonight, but we didn’t hit like we did on Monday. You still have to find different ways to win, and we did different things to score a run and end up being enough. It’s definitely nice to be 2–0 in league, but we have a big one on Thursday and Kevin Smith will have Los Altos ready to try to take one from us. As for Christian, I told the boys after that I was most excited about how Christian pitched because this is the best he’s looked in a while, and I feel like he’s returning to his old form.”
South Hills pitcher, Christian Santoyo: “Los Altos is a very good and competitive team, but we just played South Hills baseball. Our pitching staff has always been strong, and I’m proud to be part of this program. I was throwing a lot of strikes and getting ahead in my counts. It was a big win for me, because in my last couple of starts, I got behind in some of the counts. I mixed up my pitches well and hit my spots while attacking my hitters. Marc (Morales) is really competitive. He comes enters games in big moments and shines. He’s one of the guys I love coming right after me. We’re very confident and happy to start league 2-0, but we’re not taking anybody lightly.”
