Bonita coach Rob Froh gave us the following dual notes: “We started at 106. It went back and forth for the first few weights. We pinned in the first at 106. I think their kid was a freshman. Ours was a sophomore, but he wrestled a little varsity last year. They pinned in the first at 113. SD was a varsity kid. Ours was a freshman. We pinned in the first with Elias at 120. 126 was a pretty good match. Noah was winning until like the last 40 seconds. SD got a reversal, and Noah just didn’t have anything in the tank. He has been fighting a little cold. 132 was one of their studs, and he pinned us in a cradle. 138 was a great match. Baldelomar is honorable mention at state. My kid, Tyler Franco, has been working his butt off. Last year, Kamari tech’d him 20-3. Tyler came out and put him on his back right away. Couldn’t hold him. Battled back and forth and I think the final was like 11-8. 144 was a sophomore first time on varsity. He fought hard and it only ended up 6-0 for just a decision. Jacob had a freshman. Took him down, cut him, took him down again and pinned him in 15 seconds.
157 our kid, only a sophomore, was determined. He went out and controlled things from the whistle and got a pin in the first. 165 we had a first-year senior. He was losing the whole match but with about a minute left, he caught him and threw him to his back for a pin. 175 for us was Thomas Jimenez, one of our captains. He took him down right away for a quick pin. Our 190 was a sophomore we had to throw in last minute. He started off great and was controlling things but got a little overly aggressive and made a mistake getting caught and pinned. 215 was Matt Meza from football. We thought he was going to be our 190, but he certified late and had to go 215. He came out strong and got a pin to ice it for us. Our 215 bumped up to 285. Gave up about 70 pounds. Fought off his back twice in the first, chose top in the second. He broke him down and got back points twice before getting in a better position and getting a pin to finish off the win.”
