Football:
Bonita made a couple of steps forward on Friday night.
The Bearcats evened their season record at 3-3.
They got quarterback Travis Lippert back since the fourth quarter in a week-zero loss at Muir.
And BHS opened Sierra League play with a 21-7 victory over their visitors from Colony.
Bonita led 21-0 before the Titans scored their lone TD of the game late in the third quarter.
I hope to add stats to this story on either Saturday or Sunday.
For now, here goes:
Matt Milazzo played the starring role in Friday’s win.
Milazzo picked a Jordan Juarez pass four minutes into the second quarter.
And the BHS sophomore brought it back 90 yards for the pick-six.
Just before the half, Milazzo caught a 5-yard TD pass from Lippert to extend the lead to 14-0.
Midway through the third quarter, Drew Apodaca rumbled in from two yards out to cap the Bearcats scoring.
With less than a minute to play in the third quarter, Daylan Sumler reeled in a 25-yard scoring strike from Jordan Juarez to account for the Colony offense.
Up next: The Bearcats host Glendora on Thursday night.
The Tartans (1-5) struggles continued with a 40-7 week-six setback at Charter Oak.
