Imagine the range of emotions.
Rio Hondo Prep took a 6-1 lead into the top of the sixth over their visitors from Southlands Christian in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 6 playoffs.
The Eagles, though, would storm back with five huge runs in the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.
That gets us to the bottom of the seventh inning.
Evonny Ortega drew a two-out walk.
And Bella Fairley followed with a two-run walk-off HR to secure an 8-6 victory.
Natalia Bargas was saddled with the loss after surrendering seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Bargas issued three walks and registered five strikeouts.
Tara Riley was hit by pitch, singled, doubled and drove in one run.
Allie Scott singled twice, scored and drove in one.
Ryen Covey collected a pair of hits and one RBI.
Ortega was hit by pitch, singled and scored a pair of runs.
Fairley walked, scored twice and singled to go with her two-run HR.
Bryce Johnson drew a pair of walks and scored two runs.
Janna Taflinger and Madison Burl had one hit apiece for the Kares.
Up next: RHP will host St. Monica on Saturday at 3:15.
The Mariners (11-10) edged Knight, 10-8, in their first-round contest.
