In last year’s match against Duarte, the Falcons defeated the Minutemen for the first time in modern history, 10-8.
With both teams returning nearly all of their players, today’s match promised to be a competitive one.
Last year, the Minutemen won seven of nine doubles sets, but won only one singles set.
If they were going to prevail today, the singles lineup knew they would have to step up.
They did just that, winning six sets, as #1 Cherif Sauma, #2 Pierre Adrien, and #3 Will Klop won two sets apiece.
The doubles lineup was paced by #2 Nate Schumann/Russell Sze and #1 Matt Yip/Reggie Park, who won all of the sets they played (3 by Schumann/Sze, 2 by Yip/Park).
With the win, the Minutemen improve to 5-3 on the season.
Their next match will be another road affair as they visit the Glendale High School Nitros on Tuesday.
