Softball:
Muir pounded its way into the CIF-SS Division 7 quarterfinal round.
The Mustangs cruised to a 14-4 victory over Orangewood Academy in six innings.
MHS out-hit OA, 17-7, on Tuesday.
Nine out of the 10 Mustangs with at least one official at-bat had one hit or more.
Jazmin Jaquez got the win.
Jaquez went three innings, and she allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits.
She walked one and fanned four.
Alondra Gonzalez went three scoreless and allowed three hits.
Gonzalez issued one walk and struck out three.
Offensively, Gianna Butler had a monster day.
Butler drew a pair of walks, tripled, homered, scored three runs and drove in four.
Ariel Flores went 3-for-4 with a walk, triple, run and three RBIs.
Gabriella Milton singled, tripled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
Alondra Gonzalez singled, doubled, scored and had one RBI.
Alyssa Perez singled twice and scored.
Jasmine Collins singled and scored.
Eriel Wallace walked and scored two runs.
Erica Wallace went 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.
Up next: Muir travels to Helendale to battle Acadamy of Careers & Exploration (14-11) on Thursday at 3:15.
